We are one of the largest and best-managed fisheries in the world.

WE ARE COMMITTED TO

REDUCING BYCATCH

The Eastern Bering Sea pollock fishery operates the most sophisticated bycatch avoidance techniques of any fishery in the world. We have been recognized as “one of the cleanest in terms of incidental catch of other species” by the National Marine Fisheries Service.

WE ARE COMMITTED TO

SCIENCE-BASED APPROACHES

The Alaska pollock fishery has a longstanding record of investing in research and technology that helps us continually improve how we fish. We work closely with state and federal regulators and scientists to continually improve data collection to better understand fishing and climate impacts to the Eastern Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska marine ecosystem.

WE ARE COMMITTED TO

ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES

As the second largest fishery in the world, the Alaska pollock fishery creates significant job opportunities, income and sustainable economic growth for Alaskans.

WE ARE COMMITTED TO

PARTNERING

Through the Community Development Quota (CDQ) program, Western Alaskan communities control more than 35% of Alaska’s pollock catch quota is in the Bering Sea. This revenue helps fund education, skills training, and employment opportunities.

WE ARE COMMITTED TO

PROVIDING NUTRITIOUS FOOD

Alaska pollock is a vital source of affordable protein for millions of Americans, including those in need through the USDA National School Lunch Program and food banks. When possible, food-grade bycatch is donated to SeaShare, a national non-profit that helps direct nutrient-dense seafood to hunger relief programs and food banks.
